Premier league News - Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea
Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce believes that English national team boss Fabio Capello should try to persuade Paul Robinson to come out of international retirement. The manager claimed that Robinson is very much at ease with his form and fitness at the moment. That can be said owing to his all-round performance for the club. However, Sam Allardyce argued it would be up to Fabio Capello to find the right medium and vibe, as to whether he can talk Robinson out of the national side withdrawal. The goalkeeper’s current form was nowhere near of what it was last season, which led to the player’s disappointment. Robinson was omitted from the squad last season as well as this summer’s World Cup.
Blackpool
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has claimed that splashing 1.25 million pounds on signing DJ Campbell has been a good investment. The 28-year-old striker, who has shifted many clubs in his career, arrived to the newly-promoted side Leicester City towards the end of the transfer window. Campbell was every impressive in his loan spell with Tangerines, and even though it was a small fee compared to other clubs, manager Holloway worried himself sick. Campbell, however, proved his worth, when he scored his first top-flight goal for the club in their emphatic 2-0 win at St James Park over the weekend. The manager expects much more goals to come from the feet of the 28-year-old. While talking to the press, Holloway claimed that £1m was not a lot of cash for a player who can get a goal every now and then. The manager was confident that Campbell’s form will continue, as his side likes to create chances. Campbell may well have scored a hat-trick at Newcastle with the sheer amount of chances he had with the ball. Holloway praised the player’s ability, claiming that “he looked electric, sharp and strong, and he looked like he is back home, where he is loved, wanted and cherished.” Holloway claimed that he spent a lot of time this summer to chase him, but finally got him in the end and expects him to do wonders with the new club
Bolton Wanderers
Bolton Wanderer’s defender Gary Cahill’s appeal over his red card at Arsenal has been refused, meaning that the punishment would stay. The 24-year-old made a clumsy tackle on advancing Arsenal Forward Marouane Chamakh, leading to referee Stuart Attwell producing a straight red on the 64th minute. The player’s case was taken to the regulatory commission on Tuesday. A statement was thus released from the FA regarding the matter, which stated, "At a regulatory commission hearing today (Tuesday), a claim for wrongful dismissal from Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill was dismissed. As a result, Cahill's three-match suspension will remain and will be served with immediate effect."
The match ban means that Gary Cahill will miss this weekend’s premier league fixture away to Aston Villa along with the Carling Cup clash with Burnley. Cahill would also have to sit out the home game with Manchester United at the Reebok Stadium the following week.
Chelsea
Premier league Champions star midfielder Michael Essien has agreed that his club still has to do a lot of hard work this season, if they are to retain the title. Essien recently scored a pair of goals in Chelsea fourth win of the season against West Ham United. Chelsea won 3-1 and the midfielder claimed that the season is very long, but his side has managed to play some impressive football and are scoring goals almost at will. The side would have to keep on doing the same, if they expect to retain their prestigious position as the Barclays Premier league Champions.
