Premier league News from Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wigan Athletic
Wigan Athletics’ Roberto Martinez has come out to the support of failing striker Mauro Boselli in a bid to encourage him to do well at the DW Stadium. Since his big cash transfer from Estudiantes this summer, the player has failed to score a single goal and missed an open goal chance against Sunderland on the weekend. The manager has entrusted his complete faith into the player and expects Boselli to prove his worth once he’s fully fit.
The manager claimed that Boselli is a finisher and goal scoring machine, who has never missed a goal from such an spot. Roberto Martinez added that coming from an Argentinean league and adjusting to English football is difficult as both are purely different styles of play. Martinez added that it would take time for him to adjust to the premier league. The manager claimed that the player has performed on the highest level for 55-60 minutes and once he has developed the stamina to play for a full 90 minutes, Boselli would never miss such chances.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolves Midfielder Karl Henry has confirmed that he had no ill intentions in the challenge which led to Fulham striker Bobby Zamora breaking his leg on Saturday. Henry has reportedly sent his sympathies to the Fulham striker for which the player would be out of action for 4 months at the minimum. Zamora was carried off on a stretcher in the first half, following his ankle injury owing to a fair but ruthless tackle from the Wolves skipper. It was an unfortunate blow for the English international, who had only recently signed a new contract and won his first English cap last month. On Wolves official website, a statement from Henry read:
"I'm sorry that the damage was done to him because it's the last thing I would have wanted. I know Bobby - we've got the same agent and we were away with the England Under-21s together. I'd never go out to hurt anyone, let alone him. I felt it was a good tackle. I just tried to win the ball, but I could see he was in agony straight away and called to their physio."
