Premier league Round Up- Birmingham City
Good news for Birmingham City management as star midfielder Alexander Hleb has resumed full training. The player has not played for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues for almost a month owing to a hamstring concern but has now boosted his side by finally resuming training.
Birmingham boss Alex Mcleish believes that the player may well be back to his former best when he gets fully fit and help out Birmingham in the coming fixture. The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder had just started to return to top form when he was
injured while playing against Fulham a month back. Hleb is currently on loan to Birmingham from Barcelona and the manager is hopeful of getting the best out of him for the remaining loan term. Hleb is an exceptionally good player who has played at the top
level for both Arsenal and Barcelona and his services would be vital for the Premier league club.
"He is training well. The guys who are with him say he's been working very hard. He came to us half-fit from Barcelona. I don't think he had a full pre-season which is what you definitely need as a player,” claimed the Birmingham City manager.
The player has already made 10 appearances for Birmingham City since his arrival and has scored once in a league cup match. The manager claimed that some players do need confidence and mentality boosts along with fitness to perform well and Hleb is one of
them.
“Alex is playing catch-up in terms of fitness but we've been encouraged by the work he has put in this last week," claimed the Scotsman.
Birmingham have a tricky fixture in the league when they travel to Goodison Park to face Everton. Everton managed a wonderful 2-1 victory over Manchester City earlier in the week which denied the Citizens a chance to go top of the table at the year end.
Birmingham is currently 15th in the league and would want to get out of the bottom half of the table to secure their mid-table finish they had last season.
