Premier league Round Up - Part 3: 6th September 2010
Fulham: Crystal Palace football club manager George Burley is happy to keep goalkeeper Julian Speroni at the club following Fulham’s last day bid for the Argentine. Fulham’s new boss Mark Hughes was keen on bringing Speroni to Craven Cottage, following his first choice shot stopper Mark Schwarzer was constantly linked to a move with Premier league heavy weights Arsenal.
The deal could never solidify, much to the pleasure of Crystal Palace manager. The boss confirmed that there was interest for the shot stopper but nothing solidified. Burley added that he’s happy to keep hold of the player until atleast January, which is fantastic. The manager hailed the player’s talent, claiming that Julian has established himself as a top shot stopper and was delighted to have his services till January atleast.
Liverpool: Spanish star striker Fernando Torres has claimed that he feels much better in his quest for full form and fitness. The forward recently scored a brace of goals against Lichestenstien. World Champions thrashed the side 4-0 in a comprehensive victory.
The Liverpool marksman was seen struggling with injuries for most of last season and is still on a road to recovery. The forward suffered from a adductor injury in World Cup final in July, which his side won. Torres, since last season, has undergone two knee surgeries and his club doesn’t expect the forward to hit his full form till the next month.
The 26 year old, however, looked in fine knick when featured for his star studded side in Vaduz, as the player opened the scoring thanks to a superb chip on the 19th minute mark. In the 54th minute, Torres scored his second and his side’s 3rdgoal as he managed to finish off inside the near post.
The Liverpool man was then substituted instantly following his second goal and while talking in a post match interview, the player claimed that he feels better every day and with more rhythm and goal, he would soon get to his full form, fitness and confidence.
Manchester City: Manchester City Midfielder Micheal Johnson looks to return back from his injury to training. The 22-year-old has not played since the Carling Cup tie at Scunthorpe United last October after rupturing a cruciate knee ligament in training. He is now on course to return to full training in a couple of months, with December being his target. "It will be great to play in a really good team.
It's easy to forget that we were just a mid-table team not too long ago," he said. "We had some decent players, in fact some very good players, but as a team we were doing average.” claimed the Midfielder. The player was happy with the team’s performance against Liverpool and claimed that things now look very favorable for his side. Johnson claimed that it would now be much easier to feature in such a side, owing to sheer amount and quality of the players surrounding him.
Manchester United: The Red Devils recently announced their 30 man Champions league squad, omitting injured midfielder Owen Hargreaves and new signing Bebe.  The English International made just one touch in a substitute appearance in the previous 2 years and there are a lot of question marks over the future of his career. Owen returned to see knee Specialist Richard Steadman in Colardo over the summer.
The player looks to save his career and was included in United’s premier league 25 man squad. However, his omission from the Champions league squad indicates towards no return for the midfielder for atleast 2010.
