Premier league news: Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea, Everton
BLACKBURN ROVERS: Blackburn Manager Sam Allardyce has stated his support for midfielder Steven Nzonzi and expects the player to reach his top from in the near future. Nzonzi was the recipient of the club’s player of the year award but has
so far failed to duplicate such a performance in this season. However, the manager has backed the midfielder to bounce back and be the player he was last season. The manager stated that it was perhaps due to too much praise that the player is underperforming,
but now all the Nzonzi needs to is to get back to earth and play the basic football. Allardyce added that the side didn’t expect Nzonzi to do what he did last season and that is exactly what is expected from him this year around.
"He overachieved last year and that brought him many plaudits which he deserved, but this year he has found it a little difficult to get back there. It is all about your mental strength. He probably thought it was going to be a little easier this year, but
this league is never easy and if you take it a little bit easier, unfortunately, you get found out. He needs to just kick back into the mode he was in last season. We were all expecting him to improve - he has had a little dip at the moment as many youngsters
do, but I'm sure he'll be back very soon," claimed the Blackburn Rovers manager.
BOLTON WANDERERS: 25 year old Stuart Holden has officially signed the dotted line for a contract extension that would keep him at bay till 2013. The American joined Bolton in Januaray last season from native club Houston Dynamo and the club
is delighted by the player’s commitment. The player was also happy to sign the long term contract and claimed that he was exited to be in club he has stated to love.
Holden added that he couldn’t ask for a better manager, support staff and players and was happy to fulfill the opportunity given by Owen Coyle to display his skills. Holden couldn’t keep his excitement controlled and thanked the manager for entrusting confidance
and support in him which has helped him develop as a solid player. So far, the American has started all of Bolton’s premier league games after making just one league appearance since his arrival at the club in January.  The player continued, stating that he
had minor injury setback when he arrived but now remains adamant as ever to make a bigger impact this season.
CHELSEA: Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is expected to be present in Chelsea’s clash with Arsenal at home this weekend, despite losing his father Giuseppe Ancelotti. The senior Ancelotti lost his battle with death and passed away at the
age of 87 with Carlo standing beside him. The funeral is expected to take place on Saturday, just a day before the Arsenal match. Chelsea released a club statement in this regard which stated:
"Everyone at Chelsea sends our deepest condolences to Carlo and his family. They are all in our thoughts at this time,"
EVERTON: Exciting young American talent Omar Salgado was seen training with Premier league side Everton. The youngster is considered to be one of the best upcoming talents of the continent and outshone everyone in this year’s Milk Cup. Salgado
opted to play for USA and had to leave Mexican club Chivas owing to their youth policy.
Salgado is expected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming MLS draft and has since been training with Portland Timbers. However, Everton is reportedly interested in the youngster and with the strong American contacts of the club, it would only be a matter
of time before joins the Toffees.
