WEST HAM UNITED: English goalkeeping coach Ray Clemence has backed Robert Green to bounce back from his World Cup nightmare and believed that Green has the mental strength to challenge for the number 1 shot. Robert Green was omitted from the side owing to
his World Cup howler against USA, which led USA to equalize in the World Cup opening Match and veteran goalkeeper David James was selected.
Currently, Joe Hart remains Capello’s first choice and would be in between the sticks in the Montenegro Match this Tuesday. Clemence however has backed Green owing to the Hammers shotstopper’s recent increase in from and was thus selected for the English
squad for the first time since his blunder at South Africa.
The coach stated that there was no doubt Green was a good player as he was chosen for the World Cup. Clemence stated that he has noted the player for the past two matches with the Hammers and has seen him produce some inch perfect saves. Ray Clemence agreed
that it was a bad summer for the player in the World Cup and that may have been a major blow for his international career. Green has however the capability to bounce back from his blunder against USA and the coach had full belief that it would be matter of
time before Green get backs to the form he had before travelling to South Africa.
