Premier league round up: Blackpool and Bolton Wanderers
Blackpool
Blackpool centre back Neal Eardley hailed the form and talent of midfielder Charlie Adam and believed that it would be only a matter of time before he moves to a bigger English club.
However, Eardley believed that Adam’s stay with Blackpool in their veteran season in the Premier League has greatly improved the side’s chances to remain out of the drop zone.
Adam has been linked to many top Premier League clubs, most notably Liverpool, who made several bids for him in the 2010 summer transfer window. All of the bids from Liverpool were rejected, despite the player handing in his transfer request. Blackpool accepted
the bid from Tottenham Hotspur, but that could not be materialised due to time constraints.
The 25-year-old is now with Blackpool until the summer of 2011 and the defender believes that his services would lead Blackpool to a better position in the League.
Eardley claimed that Adam was Blackpool’s player of the season in 2009-10 when the side managed a shock promotion into the Premier League after winning the play offs. Eardley claimed that Adam scored 19 times for them in that season despite being a midfielder.
“We have done well to keep him but I am sure Charlie will get his move in the summer or whenever because he is good enough to play for one of the big clubs. But for now he is still a Blackpool player and hopefully he can continue to play at his best between
now and the end of the season,” stated Eardley.
Bolton Wanderers
Bolton boss Owen Coyle has full faith on on-loan Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge to imitate the impact made by Jack Wilshere during his loan spell with the Trotters in the 2009-10 season.
“I believe he can. That's why I brought him to the football club. I've seen him for years and I think he's such a talented player,” stated the Bolton boss.
The manager claimed that Sturridge had no chance to play for Chelsea owing to the presence of Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and the 50-million-pound signing Fernando Torres. However, Coyle believed that Sturridge has a lot of talent and first team appearances
with Bolton would develop him into a big player.
The manager added that young players need time and opportunities to prove their worth in the League and Sturridge’s two goals from two appearances would give him the confidence and belief needed by every striker to thrive on.
