Premier league round up: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Manchester City
Liverpool
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello has backed Andy Carroll to prove his worth to Liverpool.
Carroll, who joined Anfield for a record fee of 35 million pounds, is yet to make an appearance in a Red shirt and many believe that paying that much for a 22-year-old is inanity.
However, Capello believes that the transfer fee would do nothing but motivate the striker to perform at the highest level. Carroll was extremely impressive in his Three Lions debut in November 2010 against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 but would play no part in the game against
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 on Wednesday.
Carroll was injured while playing for Newcastle in January 2011 and has not played a game since. The thigh concern means his Liverpool debut would have to wait and there is still no timeline on when he would finally return. Some say it would take him a couple
of weeks while others believe he may remain out for at least two months.
The English manager believes that Carroll has all the making of becoming a great player for both his club and country and would be a regular at Liverpool when he recovers. Capello believed that a manager of Kenny Dalglish’s standing would never spend this
much to grab a player who is not worth it.
“The fee will not be a problem for him. He has a strong mentality. When he played for England, he played without fear and with such a lot of confidence for someone making his first appearance. It wasn't an easy game for him either because the team didn't
play well. But he was the most important player for us and I am sure he will be okay,” stated the England manager.
Manchester City
Manchester City first team coach David Platt revealed the reasons behind club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314 Carlos Tevez scoring a hat trick against West Bromwich Albion.
City managed an impressive 3-0 win over the Baggies, in which Tevez scored his third hat trick in a City shirt and it came surprisingly on his 27th birthday. The Argentine is in top form in the on-going 2010-11 season, having already scored 20
times across all competitions.
Platt added the he ensured that the City players played most of the game in the opposition half and that led to them scoring thrice. He added that both David Silva and Tevez showed good chemistry and exploited the little gaps in the defence well.
