Premio Loco’s participation in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot depends on the ground
Trainer Chris Wall has serious concerns about the surface of the track at Ascot, and might scratch his talented runner, Premio Loco, from the Queen Anne Stakes if the ground is soft on 19th June, 2012, where the Sir Henry Cecil
trained Frankel will also compete.
The trainer believes that the soft track will hinder his runner, and he can only deliver a good race on a fast ground, which is more favourable.
To the press, the Newmarket based trainer stated:
"I just hope they don't get too much rain. I would like to run Premio Loco in the Queen Anne. I know we have no hope of beating Frankel, but it would be good to have a nice day at Ascot and run well in a race with Frankel in it.”
The trainer commented that the runner is in good form and he might run at Ascot in July as he told the press:
"He's very well and I couldn't be happier with him. He's in great shape, so we'll hope we can run. If he didn't, we'd have to wait a bit longer. The next stop might be something like the Summer Mile at Ascot in early July.”
Over the course of his career, the chestnut gelding has seven Group victories to his name. In his 33 career starts, he has secured 14 victories - which reflect his ability and talent.
With two victories safely tucked in the bag, the son of Prized, out of Crazee Mental, is on a hat-trick. He has won both his starts this season and is in very good shape.
On 24th March, 2012, the eight-year-old gelding competed in the Group 3 Blue Square Winter Derby at Lingfield, where he finished a half-length ahead of the Richard Hannon trained, Cai Shen.
The Bernard Westley owned runner maintained the same composure in the Group 3 IKC Racing Pramms Memorial at Jagersro, where he raced as a favourite on 15th
May, 2012.
With jockey George Baker on his back, the runner performed well and managed to win over the Niels Petersen trained, Silver Ocean.
