  1. It might work but it won't be as cheap. Depending on how long you're going to be in New Zealand for and how often you will use your phone you may be better off buying a new sim card from vodafone for $35 which includes a free $10 top up. Then again, a Vodafone sim might not work on certain phones so it might just be easier to use roaming. You're probably better off to ask someone in a store so they can inform you of charges etc.

  2. yes, but they are different countries, so you will be charged roaming charges...

I have a NZ pay as you go sim if you want? I've even got a uk mobile number forwarded to it for free...

they cost about $35 when you get there...

  3. Im a Kiwi living in Australia and I can tell you no it doesnt, UNLESS you want to pay a whole lot of money using international roam. They are two different countries, so they have different providers. You are best to purchase one in australia and one in new zealand. They are not expensive (around 30 bucks) and you can pick them up at most convenience stores or supermarkets. Most of them u get on call caps, which you can pay about 50 extra bucks and get a few hundred dollars worth of calls. This applies for both oz and nz

  4. I am not sure - but when we go to Australia we always have to sort out phones here before we leave so we can use ours and also we bought a  sim cards at the airport n Australia, when we arrived on a couple of occasions i so maybe not.
