Preparation begins for 2011 AVC Women’s Club Volleyball Championship
The wonderful event of 2011 AVC Women’s Club Championship is fast approaching. The tournament is scheduled to run from June 18-26, while the city of Vinh P**c in Vietnam is supposed to set up field for play.
A total of eight best club teams from all across Asia will enter the competition. The names of the participating 8 countries are as followed:
China Japan Thailand Kazakhstan Iran Vietnam Philippines Indonesia
According to the set plan of Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), the teams will be divided into two pools. Each pool will accommodate four teams. The defending champions Thailand and runner-up of last edition of AVC Women’s Club Championship Kazakhstan
will be placed in Pool B.
The other two slots in Pool B will be filled in by Indonesia and China. On the other hand, Pool A will be highlighted Japanese team that finished third last year. Another team, which is likely to have certain advantages in the tournament, is hosts Vietnam.
Moreover, Philippines and Iran will also open the tournament under the tag of Pool A.
The drawing of lots will be carried out in accordance with the geographical consideration of participating countries. Teams from the same zone will be distributed into as many different pools as possible.
The championship will be opened with the first preliminary robin round, which will cover its length in three days. A total of six matches will be played in each pool during the preliminary robin round. The successful teams will advance to the quarter-finals,
while two low-performance teams will be eliminated.
In the next stage, four teams with better ranking points will be featured in the semi-finals. Eventually, the final showdown of the tournament will uncover the Asian club champions for the running season. The final round of the championship will also feature
the classification matches for 3rd to 8th positions.
All the participating teams are head over heels in preparations for the upcoming championship. Thailand is undergoing extensive training and the team has big plans to secure the title in their custody for another year.
Likewise, there are other contenders who have big plans to catch the limelight this year. There is only one month left in the official opening of the tournament. This is high time for teams to give final touch to their preparations.
