I am going for a job interview for office support position at claims department of a third party insurance company. I would like to come prepared. Are there any tips anyone can share about insurance claims? Thanks.

  1. Do not  lie in the interview, you will be found out. If they have not asked for previous insurance experience they will not expect you to know about the details of the work. Ask about the training you will get and where the job could lead to. If the company has a web site look at it to learn about them. dress smartly, be yourself, and smile.

  2. The main thing that they will find important on their end of the claim business is that everything must be in order - all the forms filled out properly, signatures affixed, dates within the rqeuired parameters, etc. The proper codes for each procedure must be used, especially if there are multiple codes and procedures used (like for surgeries and hospital stays).

Unless they've specifically asked for experienced people only, your best bet is to be prepared in general - do some research on the company so you can ask a few questions about their structure when they ask if you have any questions - asking about training opportunities is a plus. Be prepared for the usual "give us an instance when you and your co-workers didn't get along well" type questions. Dress to the nines and look comfortable but alert.
