Preparing salad for large party...?

In preparing for my party, I know a lot of my friends are on low fat diets.

What should I do with dressing?

  1. ya get different kinds of dressing. a cute thing to do with the salad is put it on a pizza crust and serve it like that! original cute and fun. have a good party! ; D

  3. don't dress the salad.  have assorted dressings on the side.  make sure you put the salad in a nice, wide stainless steel bowl sitting on a bowl of ice.  make sure the greens are nice and dry.

    if you don't have bowls like this, get two large disposable aluminum pans.  fill the botton one half full with ice and sit the other on top with the greens in it.

  5. Make or buy dressings to have available on the side. Have cruets of oil and vinegar and also provide lemon wedges in case people just want lemon juice on their salads. The added bonus is that your salads will stay fresher longer if the dressings are put on just before consumption.

  6. Although, buying different assortments of dressings to choose from is a good idea...try mixing some of your own!make a bunch of different vinaigrettes! This way, you can make large portions for it to just be drizzled without a care and enough to go round!Here are some low fat delicious recipes!

    Blasamic Vinaigrette~1 cup Olive Oil

    1/2 cup Balsamic Vinegar

    3 to 5 cloves Garlic, minced

    3 tablespoons. Parmesan Cheese

    Salt and Fresh Ground Black Pepper, to taste

    Preparation:

    Whisk together vinegar, garlic and grated cheese.

    Slowly drizzle in the oil, whisking constantly, until thickened. Adjust the seasonings to taste.



    Lemon Vinaigrette~

    1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil

    2 tablespoons Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

    3/4 teaspoon Fresh Thyme Leaves, chopped

    1 clove Garlic, minced

    3/4 teaspoon Kosher Salt

    Pinch Fresh Cracked Black Peppercorns

    Preparation:

    In a jar or bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, thyme, garlic, salt, and pepper.Store, covered, in the refrigerator.

    Serve lemon vinaigrette at room temperature.

    Red Wine Vinaigrette~

    1/2 cup Red Wine Vinegar

    3 tablespoons Lemon Juice

    2 teaspoons Honey

    2 teaspoons Salt

    Fresh Ground Black Pepper

    1 cup Olive Oil

    Preparation:

    Combine vinegar, lemon juice, honey, salt, and pepper in blender.With blender running, slowly blend in oil.

    Serve red wine vinaigrette at room temperature.

    Raspberry Vinaigrette~

    1 cup Raspberry Vinegar

    1 cup Olive Oil

    1 cup Vegetable Oil

    1 cup Pure Maple Syrup

    1 tablespoon. Dijon Mustard

    1 tablespoon Fresh Tarragon, chopped

    1 teaspoon Salt

    Preparation:

    Combine all ingredients and mix well in blender.

    Mix until dressing thickens and is well blended.

    Serve raspberry vinaigrette immediately.

    I know everyone loves the essential Bleu cheese, Ranch, and Italian. Idea! Make a small area for a salad topping buffet, add ham chunks,bacon bits, almonds, bleu cheese crumbles, olives, feta, etc. the possibilities are endless!

  7. wasn't this question, and the same answer about the shades, on here yesterday?????    Put out bottles of dressings, including some low-fat, and let each guest put their own dressing on.
