Ok so i have enrolled my 3 year old daughter in preschool, but the only type of food they can take is cold food, they do not have microwaves, so any suggestions other than sandwiches that i could prepare for her?

  1. u can make some potato cutlets and some cakes and indian dishes like dosa etc. etc. just search for the healthy indian recipes and u would find them out

  2. i don't think could be this situation.

It is always so in all preschools?

sorry, i'm italian and I reading those answers for curiosity (sorry for my english)...

I'm a teacher and we have a canteen and our menù is always:

    pasta(obviously, lol!)

meat or fish or eggs or cheese

    vegetables

fruit or cake or yogurt or icecream

if I propose this (like you), children's parent's, they would not, it is absurd.

I don't want to offend anyone, is only a consideration.

    I hope I have misunderstood.

your consideration is very important for me.

  3. go to wal mart and purchase a wide mouth thermos and a shorter one.

you can use the taller wide mouth one for meals you fix at home.  just heat them up and put them in the thermos.  ideas are:

hot dogs- cook them at home and put them in the thermos, wrap bun in plastic wrap

    stew or soups

    pasta dishes

    chicken nuggets

for the shorter one you can use it for:

    salads or pasta salad

    jello/pudding

    fruits

    veggies

hope this helps.  the center i was a director at didn't serve lunch either and these were suggestions i gave my parents.

  4. Lunch meat (with or without bread), cheese, fruits, veggies (add ranch dip if she likes it) cold grilled cheese, butter noodles, boiled egg, peanut butter and jelly sandwich (if allowed), yogurt, pudding, waffles and peanut butter, mac and cheese (in thermos), some kids eat cold chicken nuggets (pre-cooked at home), jello, beans, hummus, tortilla chips (baked for healthier snack), goldfish, pretzels, soup (in thermos), rice, tortillas, bagels with peanut butter or cream cheese, some kids eat cold hot dogs...

I hope some of these suggestions helped.

  5. Many Preschools are "peanut free" because so many kids have nut allergies.  The first thing parents think of is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but that's a no-no in a peanut free school.  Many kids take "lunchables" that you buy at the grocery store- pre packed lunch in a container.  How about a cut up apple, some crackers and cheese cubes along with a milk or juice box.  Other things kids take are yogurt, salad, cottage cheese and peaches.  Sandwiches are the general lunch staple, and sometimes Moms cut them into shapes with cookie cutters.
