  1. As a parent of 2 autistic spectrum kids I suggest writing his name on everything with a sharpie, even diaper/pull-ups and especially jackets.  I also think a communication notebook works well, because you will not get all the details of the day from your son.  Some schools require an art smock, and a set of markers/crayons sent in.  Try to get the e-mail address from the teacher.  Also ask if she can jot something down each day about his day and what they are working on.  It helps to know from the teacher if your child had 3 meltdowns, refused snack, hit a kid, said a full sentence, went on the potty, whatever.  I always pack the extra set of clothes in a 1 gallon ziplock bag.  Remember socks, and clothes for different weather 1 long pant, 1 short, 1 short sleeve shirt and 1 long.  That way when the ziplock bag comes home you know you need to repack another one.  Also write his name on the ziplock bag.

  2. Call the school and ask for a list - I'm sure they have a supply list that they will require and will help you out.  Good luck!

  3. Call the school...or see if they have a webpage...they should DEFINITELY give you a list.  And if they don't have one yet, I am sure they have plenty of extra stuff for the first week and then they'll let you know then.  But I would definitely contact the school.
