My son has a first day tomorrow. He used to go afternoons, but now is going mornings. We are supposed to send a snack. What do other parents send?

It has to be something he can finger feed himself. He is of special needs, so things like applesauce and stuff are out, because he cannot spoon or fork feed. Thanks guys!

  1. Moms send snacks like sliced apples, graham crackers, trail mix, club crackers, grapes, nuts, granola bars, bananas, carrots, fruit snacks...hope this helps!  Good luck to him!

  2. Any fruit or vegetable that can be cut up, or that will be fine at room temperature would be good.  Or something like pirates booty, or crackers with the cheese already spread on it.

  3. I feed my toddler those 100 calorie pack snacks. They have wide varieties like crackers and cookies. They are healthy and easy to feed themselves. Good luck.

  4. Try something like, Goldfish (the crackers, lol), gramham crackers

(sometimes the kind shaped as a stick are easier to pick up), things to this nature should work out great!

  5. crackers, peanut butter sandwitch, sliced apple

  6. Any finger food that will survive in a little plastic box will be great - sliced fruit, cheese sticks, bread sticks, really anything he likes...

Will he be able to open a box or other packaging? If not, maybe you could have a quick word with the teacher or assistant that he'll need her just to pop the lid off.

  7. i would go with crackers or cut fruit something that you know he will be able to feed himself and that he likes.

  8. I would send him with crackers, carrot sticks, celery, apple slices, things like that.

  9. how about cheese and crackers?

  10. Crackers are always optional and dont forget fruit juices. some slices of fruit would be nice too.

  11. fruit veggies crackers cheese, alot of schools aren't allowing nuts due to alergies if your school does allow nuts you can do a trail mix with dried fruit and berries

  12. My son starts daycare tomorrow too with a program much like preschool:) We aren't allowed to bring outside food into the school. But since I am an educator myself, I can tell you what they give as snacks and what I plan to give him when he goes to school. Carrot sticks, most fruits (some schools though don't allow strawberry or bananas as some kids are allergic to them, cheese sticks, crackers, celery, yogurt ,rice cakes and graham crackers. In almost all the schools in my region (I live in Quebec) all schools are nut free, and even some high schools don't allow peanut butter!

If your son has autism is he on the lactose, gluten and casein free diet? If he is here's a title of an excellent book filled with great ideas:

    http://www.amazon.com/Kid-Friendly-ADHD-...

I know a few people whose kids are on that diet and they snack on cucumber slices, homemade buckwheat pancakes, all sort of veggies and rice cookies and crackers.

I wish you the best on your son's big day at school (and hoping my son will too have a good day...)
