Preschool teacher gift?

What is the appropriate/usual amount for a restaurant gift cert for a preschool teacher?

10 or 15 dollars is great - I would love to get a gift card for my end of the year teacher gift - most parents don't even think of thanking their child's teacher -anything you give will be much appreciated, I am sure!

Does it have to be a restruant gift? If so, $10 takes care of her. How about a  movie gift cert. or one for Barnes and nobels? My daughter is a teacher, and recieves the Barnes and Nobles usually in the amount of 15 to 25.00 from the K5 kids. Thats probably the best place to give a card to.

I do believe that gift cards are the best gifts for teachers because for as much as they know your child, you may not really know them...

I've always appreciated, believe it or not, a bunch of gift cards from the same place, like Target or Walmart so i can have one big shopping spree, even if it's only 10 dollars per gift card. It adds up.

If it's from a restaurant, you may want to go higher in price because 9 times out of 10 they are not eatting alone and how nice to treat themselves and a guest to dinner. 30 for the food cards.

ps. how many teachers don't love starbucks!

It depends on how many parents/students are included in giving this gift. If it's from just 1 parent/student, $30 should be sufficient.

It depends on how close you are to her.  My son had had his preschool teacher for two years now and will be going to kindergarten next year.  I really appreciated everything she did for me, so for her I woul get a $50 gift certificate.  For anyone else, probably $30

I once read that a parent should give their child's caregiver/teacher $25 for holidays, but I am not sure if that is the same for end of year, thank yous.  Do whatever you feel is right and what you can afford.  I am a preschool teacher and would appreciate anything a parent gave me.  Sometimes we feel our work goes unnoticed.  I would also like a craft store gift card, because we spend a lot of our own money on supplies.  Hope this helps!  Even a $10 gift card would be fine.  Or some great smelling hand soaps, because we wash our hands a lot!
