I would love two more things about of you- so pardon if I pick your brain...

What have been your favorite and most successful THEMES? I know about the obvious, apples, bears, colors, friends, me, family, harvest, pumpkins, dinsouars, halloween, penguins, etc... I would love some that are a little more off the given path

  1. pets, garden, going west.  my favorite was when we had a beanie baby that we sent on vacation with families from the center.  they'd take the beanie on vacation and take pictures and write in the journal (like flat stanley).  they'd send it back so that it could then go on vacation with another family or bring it back upon their return.  we'd chart where the bear went on a huge map on the wall by putting an 'x' where he'd been.  our bear went all over the us, to england, sri lanka, india and mexico.

i've also done this project with other daycares around the u.s.

  2. The themes that seemed to be most successful were the ones the children were really interested in.  Like the boys are always engaged with the dinosaurs, so that is a good theme.  We did a "Let's Pretend" theme one week that was lots of fun.  Castles and Dragons, Ice Cream, Water... I would go on...

Here are a list of the themes I have done
