  1. I'm a pre-school teacher and I love it, where else can you go and act like a kid without someone thinking your nuts. My kids adore me and I them.(unlike bobbi) whose in it for the benefits and money.. My co-worker (we work for a small pre-school) leaves half day to go to work for a state run facility in the afternoon. Every morning she comes in with horror stories of these nasty kids who swear at her and spit on her and can do nothing about it. These kids have the lowest of low parents who can't wait to get rid of their kid in the morning and are always late picking them up, they come to school sick and with all kinds of diseases. and because 95% of them are not paying for it

(we are) they don't care... If you truly want to get into teaching 3 and 4 year olds, take some early childhood development courses and do some volunteer work first. Nothing is ever what it seems. But do it for the right reasons not for the money, it's not there.

  2. I am a pre k teacher and I love it

  3. I have never thought of working with young kids. It wasn't my cup of tea, at first!! As soon as I completed my high school. I pay a visit to one of the centre where my sister works in. I saw the classroom, artworks, play area... watching those innocent-looking kids playing with their friends.. It was fascinating... I got on my knees and started to join in their pretend play. I really enjoyed myself.. It was totally fun.. And guess what, the next day, the supervisor had offered me to be one of the trainee teacher.. I grab that offer, i would not want to waste this golden opportunity.  and till this very moment I am still working in this field... It has been almost 4 years now. To be honest, I'm not earning that much. but, it does not matter to me much.. As long I am happy.. and that is that....

  4. I LOVE my job!  I teach in a coop preschool in WA.  My class consists of children ages 3-5.  I make decent money for a part time job.

  5. I adore my job. I wake up everyday feeling lucky to be a part of my students' lives. I have fun at work; I get to be silly, play games, and watch children grow and develop right in front of my eyes.  The pay is awful, but this isn't a job you get into for the money. The best way to improve your salary is to get educated. Get certifications, college degrees, etc. Also, participate in conferences. Make a name for yourself. These kinds of things will improve your salary, at least in most programs.

If you don't love children with your whole heart, don't get into this profession. The money alone wouldn't be enough to compensate you, and children deserve a teacher who truly cares about what s/he is doing. If you DO love children, and you enjoy this age group (for some people, they're just too needy), please get educated and join in. The world needs more dedicated, well-trained teachers.

    Good luck!

  6. $18.000 a yr w/ benefits and summer off. I work at an inner-city government run agency for at-risk preschoolers. I work w/ a tough crowd, but I love to teach! Day cares and preschool will pay me the same with a nicer bunch of kids to teach (and less work!) but I won't get alot of benefits and have to work summers for the same $18k a year.

  7. love my job!!! salary isn't too good, some places are better than others and it also depends what state you are in.  The only bad thing is that you can get burnt out really easy
