What are your favorite circle time songs? I would love to hear ones that you sing as a "good morning song."

Also songs with simple movements!

Links to website are fine- but I have seen many. So perhaps just links to preschool teacher's own website.

I really want to know what songs YOU use...include the tune of ....

Thanks

  1. This one is my all time fav:

If you need to know how it goes there is a recording on my site:

    http://www.123child.com/UBB/showthread.p...

    Jump Song

(child's name), (child's name) Jump up and Down

Jump up and down, Jump up and Down

(child's name), (child's name) Jump up and Down

    Now Sit Back down

    Variations:

    Chicky Originals

Use Everyone instead of a child's name,

name two children ex. Sara and Jason, jump up and down

Replace "jump up and down" with "Spin all around" "touch the ground" or "Act like a clown"

Vary the speed of the song, if you go slower, do the children jump slower, try really fast.

Replace "sit back down" with "fall on the ground"

If you want to keep them going, repeat the first two lines over and over.

    For listening skills:

Try switching it up in the middle of the song,

    ex:

Everyone, everyone, Jump up and Down,

now spin all around, now jump up and down,

    everyone everyone, touch the ground,

not spin all around, spin all around,

Everyone Everyone, jump up and down,

    now sit back down.

Also, Jump Jim Joe for before snacks and lunch!!!

We would then sing "Jump Jim Joe". You would pick one student, then that student picks another student (total 2 students) They will face each other and hold hands while all students sing the following song (think hurry hurry drive the firetruck):

Jump, jump Jump Jim Joe, (students jump up and down)

Shake your head (they shake their heads)

Nod your head (students nod their heads)

Tap your toes (students tap toes)

Round and round and round you go (students go around in a circle)

Go and wash your hands.... WITH SOAP (Students go off to wash their hands)

This give students something to do instead of waiting in line to wash their hands. By the time you finish your song, the two are done washing their hands and the next two can start.

The first two groups that go can have jobs to do, like pass out plates, cups, napkins, etc.

Another tip, if you find that a particular student is not picked, pick them first, so they can find a partner more easily. Explain to the students before you start that they may not refuse if a student picks them. To avoid hurt feelings.

  2. it isn't a song but when i was a teacher i'd start circle time by reading the story 'going on a bear hunt.'  but we'd act it out by going around the classroom and doing what the book said.  then we'd end up in our circle time area, tired and ready to sit down and listen.

  3. Some Good Morning/Hello songs that I've collected over the years.  Hope they can be of some help.
