Question:

Prescription Drugs, Mexico -> US?

by  |  earlier

I'm staying until Mexico until the end of the week. I found a drug that is prescription in the US but is over the counter here in Mexico and is much cheaper. I have taken it in the past but I don't have a current prescription right now.

My question is - can I buy some here and bring it into the states? Can I mail it to my home address in the US? Would this be considered illegal?

Please answer if you have experience doing this or legal knowledge about this.

  1. I brought thousands of dollars of AIDS medication back across the Mexican border. I was never questioned. No narcotics, you need current prescriptions for those. Don't be greedy, ask the pharmacist, he/she will know.

  2. this guy that was siting next to me on the plane was the same age as me.  he brought valume and all sorts of other drugs back with him on the plane and he had no problems.

  3. as long as it is not a narcotic

    the FDA has a set of rules for Customs (see link below) and basically you can import for PERSONAL use up to a 90 day supply

    this is valid for in person imports (like carrying it in from mexico) as well as mail order (like from the-med-store.com which I use)

    hope this gets to you in time, print the compliance info below and carry it with you, but most probably they will not bother you at all. keep it in its box so they know what it is and that it is not an illegal drug

  4. A couple of years ago I used to cross the border and buy birth control, anti-biotics, etc, etc.  No Narcotics.

    I would just declare it at the border.  No probelms! They still have a lot of people crossing for Viagara and stuff.
