  1. Royal Canin Urinary SO comes in a dry and a wet form.  You can feed a combination of both or all wet.  I'm slowly switching to all wet for my guy to introduce more water into his diet.  I personally prefer this brand because I've seen better results with it than the c/d but it's an entirely unscientific conclusion on my part.

  2. Stick with what your vet says. Asking strangers for what to do won't get you much in the way of accurate info.

Mine has similar problems, he won't eat the dry food prescribed and I've got him on canned for the moisture (the vet ok'd this for me).  Ask your vet for canned suggestions that you can use as supplement.  A cat's metabolism varies with what they're fed. Ask if you can add some raw ground turkey or baked chicken to his diet to help with moisture.  Muscle meat has more of a balance than grain/mixed cat foods and may help your cat faster.

  3. They make urinary so canned food. You dont need to switch brands. The vet should be able to get it for you

  4. follow your pet vets orders.

  5. Most cats dealing with struvite crystals (FLUTD) do well on a high protein, low carb, and grain free wet food diet. You many want to look into these while switching food. I am uncomfortable with giving out brand names when it comes to cats with special dietary needs as a result of certain medical conditions.

I do suggest however, that you join a FLUTD support group here on Yahoo. The members have extensive knowledge on how to feed and care for cats with this condition as well as links to important information and educational resources.

  6. I understand your problem. if it makes you feel better. keep the script stuff for 2 weeks then switch.

The reason \s these problems occur is mist likely from dry foods in the 1st place. Cats are not normally big drinkers and get their needs from their food/prey. The system needs water to pass through it and dry food does the opposite. It dehydrates

I'm giving you a few choice parts of this site but if you have time, read through the whole site

  7. you should stick with the S/O or you can try Science Diet C/D multicare.  They both help prevent future formation of crystals and stones.  Struvite stones can be dissolved with these diets but calcium oxylates generally don't.  My cat was just diagnosed with stones and I just started her on the S/O myself.  But, you can only use canned or dry not a combination of the 2 with S/O.  I guess they work against one another.  Preferably use the canned though because the additional moisture helps with urinary issues.  Hope this helped.

  8. My cat amost died at the age of two  after a series of urinary tract infections.  Switched her to CD kibble (you get it from your vet), and she never got sick again.  Lived to the ripe old age of 23 years . . .  I still miss her, and have never regretted spending the money to keep her happy and healthy!
