  1. Glass is pretty hard and if you take reasonable care will not scratch, any more than the coatings will.  The extra you pay for coatings is not worth it.  And £30 just for the coatings?  I paid £39 for a complete set of glasses, excellent quality, no coatings but I haven't had any problems with glare or scratches yet.  Should have gone to Specsavers.

  2. fantastic

  3. anti glare is fantastic. i use it on all my patients glasses when they want to pay the extra for it. it doesnt make it more prone to it, it just means that when it does scratch you can see the scratch clearer than if you didnt have it. trust me its worth the extra money because it cuts out glare by 50% or more. just take care of your glasses, the lenses are hard to scratch anyways so i wouldnt worry too much!

  4. It depends on how long you have your glasses for, badly scratched coatings look far worse than those with no coatings.

  5. Sorry , but you've wasted your money , I had this done to MY  new glasses three or four pairs of glasses ago , Itr didn't make the SLIGHTEST bit of difference, whatso ever. ! ! !

  6. Yeah, it's just a money maker for them.  Want to know what will make them more scratch resistant and photo-sensitive (self-darkening reaction from sunlight) ?   Get the next pair in glass - not plastic.  Glass lenses are shatter resistant to the same standard as plastic lenses...... opticians just make more profit on plastic lenses and are easier to grind.   Glass does not scratch as easily.  30 pounds ? In dollars that's what ? over a $100 ??? Oh wow, sweetie...they robbed you.....I'd find somebody else for next time, I don't give repeat business to thieves.

  7. Yep,got my glasses done the same, but as i use the car lots

they didn`t tell me that the anti-glare did not work whilst

i was in the car,so i had to buy a pair of prescription sunglasses.

  8. Go to zennioptical.com and buy a pair - THEY ARE SOOOOO WORTH IT!!!!!!!!  $8. dollars for a full complete pair of glasses!!!

  9. I have found that optional extras with just about everything are simply a waste of money.  I doubt they have made your bins worse and more prone to damage, but you'd have been just as well not bothering with them.  Scratches have to be really bad before they cause problems and who cares about glare anyway.  This could be your first lesson in fashion rejection.

  10. no i have had that on my glasses for years and they are just fine,no scratches and no glares.it is all good.
