  1. The history of the FAA is interesting but I would do one on past airline deregulation acts and how they have evolved into some of the modern day rules and regulations that we see today, and some of the modern day pros and cons of those results.

  2. Faa.gov should have all the information you need.

  3. How about doing a study on the history and development of the FAA from the original CAA to the current day government agency?

Do you know who has pilot certification #1? It's not Wilbur or Orville, as many would think.

Lots of interesting history ... that's what I would do.

  4. What is your interest in aviation?

Use that as your "angle" when you do the story.

For example, I like the above answer about History - if you are a history buff.

You could do something on tech inspections, accident investigations, navigating, FARS, AIMS, working with other agencies, working with foreign agencies, etc.

But make it yours - so figure out what interests you - and write about that.

  5. Study the FAA sites and gather all the information you can, there's alot of interesting facts:

    http://www.faa.gov/

  6. faa.gov has information on every plane crash since like 1980.  very informative.
