  1. Gifts are never required at weddings, no matter the giver or receiver, but it is a common practice.

The most common parents gift is an engraved picture frame to put in a photos of the bride and groom after the wedding, but it's really up to the couple, and what you think they'd like. That's most likely what we're going to do, plus something else that's small and more about them and less about us as a special thank you for all their help and support.

The gifts are typically given out with at the rehearsal dinner, along with the wedding party gifts.

  2. Yes, it is.

I'm giving my FMIL a gold bracelet.

My FFIL will receive a gold pocket watch with his initials engraved on it.

Some couples give flowers or a small personal memento, we opted for bigger gifts because they have contributed a lot to the wedding.

It's a matter of showing apreciation to your parents. Of course "you don't have to", but again, nowhere says that you have to say please and thank you either,. It's a matter of being gracious, grateful and polite.

    Good luck

  3. I heard it was so we did it that way. We got presents for the parents and for the whole bridal party.  I got my mom an angel and it says moms are the best friend we've been seeking our whole lives... something like that..

for my dad, something similar but the angel was engraved on a box that he can keep his keys/rings, etc... in.. says "daddy's girl forever".

i collect angles so this was easy. if it's not easy for you, then shop on line and get ideas.

  4. i would not say you have to give them anything if you don't want to, but you could make them scrap books. One for each set of parents, just a little somthing form the two of you. put in pictures of every one toegther, you and your parents, when you were young, and now. i think it somthing that will touch their hearts.

  5. I got my parents this: http://www.thingsremembered.com/webapp/w...
