What is the best preservative to use for a syrup?

I am contemplating ascorbic acid or sodium benzoate or both or maybe something else. What do you think?

  1. Sodium Benzoate should be banned forever.

It is one of the chemical industry's dirty little secrets:  you start with benzene to make it.

    benzene is a carcinogen.

yes they've been using it for decades and there never has been a long term clinical study to measure waht % of people got cancer from  eating foods with it.

  2. sodium benzoate works wonders. i reccomend it!!!
