Preserving Cut Flowers?

So for my birthday yesterday, my boyfriend gave me a gorgeous bouqet, with pink roses, orchids, carnations, and chrysanthemums. It absolutely made my day yesterday, and made for a very special birthday. I want to preserve them, so I can keep enjoying them for a long time.

What's the best method of preserving them? And how long can I enjoy their smell before I preserve them?

  1. I wouldnt keep them more then 3 or 4 days before wrapping each one in newspaper and placing between books to flatten and dry, after they are dried you can place the flower between 2 peices of wax paper and iron it so it seals and put in a scrap book or something

  2. flatN them in a heavy book B4 they start to decompse

  3. You will want to do this before they start deteriorating.  Hang them upside down in a dark cool place.Just tie string around all the stems near the bottom.  Leave them there for a couple or three weeks, you can then use hairspray on them.

  4. Add sugar to the water.  This website will tell you how, and how much.
