Preserving an insect? ?

I found a cicada in my back yard and would like to preserve it.

But you know how some insect are preserve in a waxy translucent type of substance, I want to do it like that but i don't know what the process is called or if its easy to prepare.

I was trying to look for a hint online and it said something about 'amber' .

I just know, I would like to preserve this insect in a waxy type of substance, so if you have any info on this, plz let me know.

  1. waxy? you could boil wax in an open topped container and drop it in...but you could also refrigerate it...thats what my science teacher did when she found a dead hermit thrush in the school courtyard and wanted to show her classes...or you could refrigerate it until you find the answer you're looking for... hope I helped a little :)


  2. Put it in like a plastic bag and then in a book, or a plastic container would work
