President Lincoln to sail through the Betfred "The Home of Goals Galore" Maiden Stakes at Musselburgh
Musselburgh will host the Betfred "The Home of Goals Galore" Maiden Stakes today, 8th April, 2012. Nine participants will compete on a surface that has been labelled good to soft, over 7 furlongs and 30 yards, for a purse of £2,911.
Hawks Reef’s form looks good and he has bright prospects for this race.
He is trained by Richard Fahey, for owner J.E.M Hawkins Ltd. He has shown steady progression in his short career span.
The son of Bahamian Bounty, out of Karisal, finished sixth in a line-up of eleven runners in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Maiden Stakes at Redcar on 14th October, 2011, where was he coupled with renowned jockey, Paul
Hanagan.
The three-year-old gelding remarkably improved in his next start as he finished as a runner-up in the Betfred c**k O'The North E B F Maiden Stakes (Div II) at Doncaster on 5th November, 2011. Ridden by Paul Hanagan again, he fell ¾ length short
of the victory to Brick Tops.
President Lincoln, son of First Samurai, out of mare Preach, will give Hawks Reef a tough time on the track as his recent performances have been impressive. Owned by M. Stewart, the gelding is trained by Declan Carroll since 2nd April, 2012 and
has shown improvement under his supervision.
Paired with jockey, C. O'Donoghue, he finished as a runner-up in the Bulmers Live 3yo Handicap at Leopardstown on 30th June, 2011. He fell 1 ¼ length short of the victory which was bagged by Newlands Princess.
He finished second in the following race where he was mounted by the same jockey, this time he lost the race by a much narrower margin. He was defeated by race favourite Zabarajad by a head in the Bennettsbridge Maiden at Gowran Park on 8th July,
2011.
It is speculated that President Lincoln will triumph in this race. This prediction may come true as he is more experienced compared to the other runners who are participating in this race. This will be the first start of his season and he will be aiming
to cross the wire first.
Hawks Reef has shown promise in the past and he has a great chance of improving in this race. It looks like he’ll land as a runner-up but if luck is on his side, he’ll take the victory.
