Not interested in which party you prefer. Just, is it generally better when one party controls the Congress, and the other party the White House. Or if one party controls both the Congress and White House?

  1. There use to be a difference but not anymore, we are pretty much screwed either way.

  2. I'm not really happy with either of the parties.  As you suggest, we seem to do better with one party controlling Congress and one holding the White House.

Also, in my observation, Republicans do a better job in the minority, as the 'loyal opposition'.  Even without majorities in Congress, the Republicans are able to keep a Democratic president honest, keep him in line.  When the situation is reversed, a Democratic Congress and a Republican president, the Democrats aren't as able to ride herd on a Republican president.   As you can see now.  The Democrats have (small) majorities in Congress but the Bush administration is completely out of control.   The last few Republican presidents have been this way.

I believe the Constitution gives Congress an oversight responsibility.  Republicans don't seem to respect this part of the Constitution, except when there's a Democratic president. For me, this is a good reason to vote Democratic for president.

  3. It's better that a president defends the US Constitution not pervert it .

  4. It's best to have one party control the White House and another control the Congress. Hopefully, neither side will pass many new laws that way.
