By beating Stade Rennais in Normandy, US Quevilly have sealed a berth to the final of the Coupe de France where they will face another Ligue 1 side in Olympique Lyonnais
After achieving the feat of qualifying for the final of the Coupe de France, US Quevilly are now getting a lot of praise from the press.
“I will not defend the indefensible, because it is indefensible,” said Frederic Antonetti following his side’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of US Quevilly in Normandy. Despite scoring an early goal through Julien Feret, Frederic Antonetti’s side were not able
to extend their lead despite a plethora of chances coming their way.
In the end, it was Quevilly who showed a lot of character by first levelling the game and then, scoring in virtually the last kick of the game to book a date with destiny.
Though Rennais were wasteful in front of goal, nothing should be taken away from Quevilly who have been true giant killers throughout the competition. Clearly Rennais were the favourites but Quevilly were not to be mere pushovers.

The news of Quevilly’s remarkable feat has spread nationwide.

Le Parisien on the other hand wrote, “Quevilly, a legend.”
And it’s still not over. “Being at the Stade de France, it’s huge. We learned that just being finalists takes us to Europa League next season. But that, we will see later for now, we savour,” said team coach Regis Brouard.
