Pressure amounts on Cleveland Browns coach Pat Shurmur to replace Brandon Weeden – NFL News
The Cleveland Browns are under increasing pressure over their decision to stick with quarterback Brandon Weeden as their offence leader in spite of the poor 2-7 record achieved by the rookie with seven more games left in the 2012 regular season.
Earlier, fans had asked Coach Pat Shurmur to put former starter QB Colt McCoy back on the starting line but the official successfully fought off those suggestions saying he believed in Weeden to bounce back any time in the season.
McCoy was tried out as starter during a game in the preseason but could not prove himself and was left for a backup position.
As Weeden continues to fail, the number of questions about his ability to salvage the Browns at this stage is ever rising, although the player and coach are as confident as they were before.
Weeden should not be subjected in the blame game but coaches, who have seen the poor QB struggling to come out of the rookie issues on a self-help basis. Until and unless the young quarterback gets help from any coach he will head to as much failing as was
McCoy and quarterbacks before him.
May be it is time for the coach to seriously give a second thought to his strategy and bring some changes on the offence. With just seven games left, he could not lose more. Instead of sticking to Weeden he should give a chance to McCoy for a couple of games
to see if he can help his victory cause.
The wins are more crucial for the coach if he is willing to see himself being retained under reign of the new owner Jimmy Haslam. So it is high time that Shurmur should try something else instead of remaining stubborn to his wisdom.
Browns are already under a mess and if they keep going down it is not going to benefit anyone in the team.
