Preston North End draws with Nottingham Forest after a late rally – Championship League match update
Nottingham Forest and Preston North End played a 2-2 draw in a Championship League encounter at the City ground on Tuesday evening. Both teams scored deep in the stoppage time of the second half to share the spoils. The late goal from Billy Jones denied
the hosts of a chance to move to the second spot in the league table.

the scoring first. Keith Treacy sent in a pinpoint cross from the right wing, which was headed into the goal by Nicholson to make it 1-0 for PNE. Immediately after the goal, Billy Jones’s effort from 20 yards was beautifully saved by Lee Camp to deny the visitors
a second goal. Both teams continued with the same thrust throughout the half but could not find the net, as PNE went into half-time at 1-0.
The second half started at the same brisk pace and after just seven minutes into the half the hosts found the equalizer. Konchesky made a surging run from the left before striking a cracking goal into the bottom right corner to make it 1-1. Both teams played
some beautiful football in the second half. Neither of the sides could capitalise on their chances as the match headed for a draw. The hosts managed to find a goal deep into stoppage time, when Chris Cohen sent a cracking volley from a 35 yards free kick.
The English midfielder placed his thunder strike into the top right corner, leaving the keeper with no chance of stopping it. When it looked like Cohen had scored the winner for the hosts, Billy Jones came up with a moment of brilliance for the visitors. Man
of the match, Treacy, whipped a beautiful cross into the box and Jones headed it calmly past the keeper to make it 2-2. A goal from the last action of the play salvaged a point for the visitors, as it ensured a fair result to this thrilling encounter.
Nottingham Forest will take on Milwall in their next match on 26th February, while PNE host Burnley the same day.
