Preston named the new head coach of Eagles – Volleyball News
The Las Vegas native, Ashley Preston recently accepted the influential role of head coach at the Coppin State University (CSU) women’s volleyball programme. The CSU team has the official mascot of Eagles. Preston has become the 11th head coach in Coppin State volleyball history.
Before joining CSU, Preston served at Spelman College. She helped her team to achieve 9-16 record in 2011. Under her command, Spelman College established a new record for wins in a season. Furthermore, Preston performed her duties as an assistant coach at Morgan State as well.
Preston said she is fortunate to get this wonderful opportunity to take over the Eagles as head coach. Furthermore, she shared her thoughts in the following manner: "I love the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and I believe I can make people think twice about Coppin State. I know the Baltimore area and I know I can do great things with the potential Coppin State has. I hope that I can show everyone my commitment, drive and motivation to have my student-athletes aspire to be academically sound, involved in the community and athletically competitive. I feel like I am coming home and it feels great. This is not just a job; this is my dream to coach at a Division 1 Historically Black College."
CSU Eagles finished the previous season with a devastating 5-24 record. In the next run, the Eagles have great many plans to shake off the bad impression and to improve their win/loss record. Preston is a nice addition to the CSU Volleyball Programme and the team management sees a lot of potential in her abilities. She will have daunting task to bring the Eagles out of the blues.
Derrick Ramsey, CSU's director of athletics regarded Ashley as one of the rising young stars in college volleyball. He expressed a lot of faith that she will set a new direction for the CSU Eagles. He acknowledged that she did pretty well in the classroom and also on the court. She will surely bring a new wave of improvement and Eagles Volleyball Programme has a dire need to get better. Eagles will open the 2012 season in the coming month of August.
