Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather Jr. is making a comeback to the ring – Boxing update
The five division World Champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr., is spending his time in court lately. However, there has been a lot of talk about whether or not the American is making a comeback to the boxing world.
The Mayweather camp has issued a clarification and confirmation to boxing fans and media outlets that Floyd is indeed making his way back into the ring soon. Uncle and trainer, Roger Mayweather, made these comments while speaking to Chris Robinson, an experienced boxing journalist.
Roger Mayweather mentioned, “He will. Yeah, he will come back this year, I don't know when, probably by end of summer it will be his next fight. He's got a deal with, what's his name, Jim Jones, Jerry Jones? I mean, he's planning on resuming his career.”
Floyd’s uncle was referring to the owner and General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys and Cowboy Stadium. Lately, Jones has been seen in public with Floyd attending high profile events. Bob Arum, a key figure at Top Rank, has also been seen at these meetings. Arum organized Manny Pacquiao’s last two encounters at Cowboy Stadium and it seems likely that he will be reviving Floyds career.
With two Manny Pacquiao fights doing brisk business at Cowboys Stadium, Jones and company may want to add Floyd to their success. Dallas Cowboy officials have already invited Floyd to participate in Super Bowl XLV, which is a positive sign for the boxer.
Adding to this, Roger Mayweather said, “I think it's going to be an outstanding crowd for him to go in there and fill that stadium up, see how many people he can draw, But that's going to make it that much better to draw it to the fight for Pacquiao."
Boxing fans are curiously waiting to hear good news about the final decision taken by the jury related to Mayweather versus Pacquiao fight card. However, Mayweather has pointed out that Floyd could be face to face in a meeting with Victor Ortiz and Miguel Cotto soon. The Mayweather camp is looking at arranging a tune-up fight before going to the mega fight.
Floyd Mayweather has performed his duties as a ringside official for the Ortiz verses Andre Berto fight on 16th April.
Mayweather has been out of the ring since his unanimous decision win over Shane Mosley on 1st May last year. No doubt, he has been out of the ring for a long time but now Mosley is going to take the toughest examination of this career very soon going against the iconic Pacquiao on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, United States.
