  1. Studies have shown that people are naturally drawn to people they find attractive.  We are more willing to help them and want to be liked by them.

  2. It's easier to like that which is, or those who are, attractive.

From an evolutionary standpoint, unattractive things are generally seen as dangerous or unhealthy. To further the health of the human race, we are often drawn toward those who appear healthier than the opposition.

It's just how it is. Wear a brown bag. Or be really smart or funny or nice to compensate for your shortcomings in other areas.

Beauty's not the only thing that will get you places.

  3. Good Question, I think it is because pretty people can easily get more jobs, (actors/actresses, singers, models) Jobs where you are in the public eye. Also because pretty people, are attracted to other pretty people (usually) so it kind of just leaves the average joe out of the mix. I personally think though that it doesn't matter what people look like, it is a perk if someone is good looking but it isn't everything!

  4. No, I'm pretty (jk) but I don't have it easy at all.  It takes brains and confidence more, which I should work on.

  5. yes

  6. FDRHS, blind studies have shown over and over that all of us prefer attractive people. Two equally qualified job applicants? The more attractive gets hired. Two trials for the same crime? The handsome man's sentence may be lighter--if he's even convicted.

Anthropologists theorize it's part of humanity's survival technique. The unhealthy are usually unattractive, and we are wired to breed with the healthiest who will have us.

It's not a bias we can help, but we can all choose to do what we can to avoid decisions based on the inborn bias.
