Pretty way to keep cold foods cold?

Question

I am doing a party and there will be potato salad and other cold dishes. I don't want to go to the expense of purchasing those fancy dishes to keep cold foods chilled. What is a cheap way to keep these dishes cold that does not look tacky? The last time I just put one container full of ice under the container with the salad in it but it looked tacky. Help!

what you can do is purchase those deep dish aluminum baking trays & decorate with cheap material., put half ice then your salads.get small blocks under trays so it could be on a slant
