Question:

Preventing stretch marks?

Okay, I had a weird childhood and pretty much anything that sends me into the direction of seeing my mother in myself is very undesirable. I already have a few stretch marks on my legs from when I did strength training so I know I'll get them when I'm pregnant. Is there ANYTHING I can do to lessen them during pregnancy? Also, my husband gets a little grossed out when he sees the belly stretch marks (his sisters just gave birth).

What do I have to do? Lotion? Water? Special herbs? I've seen my future and its ugly, very ugly...

  1. Well I'll say..your stretch marks and your sister in laws stretch marks should be viewed differently by your husband...after all you are sacraficing YOUR body for HIS child...he should love those marks on you. You really can't prevent them...I had them so horribly and I tried everything. But..they have faded and don't look that bad and I'm proud of them. My body carried another human and I think it's beautiful. Don't worry...maybe they won't be too rough on you.

  2. they are hereditary so if your mom has them you will to

along with coco butter (Palmer's) after your shower also use vitamin-e oil and olive oil to help the skins elasticity

I'm hoping this helps me to lol

  3. it is unfortunately hereditary.  you can lessen them my keeping the area very moisturized.  Cocoa Butter is widely used.  Also, keep WAY on top of your nutrition so you're not gaining unnecessary belly fat.  That'll stretch you more than you need too.  Your hubby his probably 80% grossed out because, in the end, he's looking at his sister's belly.  you're his wife.  He loves you.  Don't obsess about it. : D

  4. that is not the best thing to say of your mother but whatever..you can not stop stretch marks..no Lotion, water nothing..they will come as everyone else has said they are hereditary..i tried every lotion i could including one that cost 100 dollars and they do not will not work..all you can do is watch your wight and they will lighten..so live with it.and maybe your husband should not be so shallow my husabdn loves my strech marks on my belly becuase that is what i did for our baby and it is beautiful there is more to people than looks hopefully he will not pass that to your kids

  5. Sorry i wish there was but there just isn't I asked my dermatologist this and she said its all about genetics.there is nothing you can do.  If you saw your sister in laws only a few weeks or months after she gave birth they hadn't faded yet so don't think they'll stay huge and red forever I had my daughter 3 years ago and mine have faded dramatically since then. Trust me when I say there worth it.

  6. keep your skin hydrated im prego 2 child i use oil of olay body wash and before i get out i rub baby oil on me and rinse it of  it does not leave u greasy just soft then i use a mix of coco butter and vitamin e capsules on my belly and breast , but they do say its hereditary as well. i never got them neither my mother or sister and my sister got huge most important the more u condition your skin the better your chances

  7. I HIGHLY recommend Bio Oil for preventing them.  It won't treat preexisting ones, but if you see a small one starting to form, put it on right away, twice a day, and it will keep your skin from tearing.
