Preview: Ballsmania Cup week five, heats five and six
The fifth week of the Ballsmania Cup is set to go Friday from Nottingham. Each week six charities are assigned trap numbers, and earn points based on how well the hounds from that trap perform. The charity with the most points is invited back to Nottingham
on 19 November to participate in the Ballsmania Cup final.
Ballsmania Cup - Leg 5 (A7)
In trap one is Derryhogan Josie. It’s too early in her career to know how well she’ll do which makes it tough to bet on her.
Compliance Gold is another young racer, she did not look good in her first A7 race, finishing in fourth, 10¾ lengths behind the winner. She’ll go from trap two.
In the third trap is Slick Sienna, she’s progressively gotten better in her first three A7 races. She finished first in her last race after finishing second and third in the two races before that.
Dunham Adlington was racing in A6 races until recently. Since moving to A7 she has a first and third place finish, but she took fifth in her last race. She drew trap four.
In trap five is Toolmakers Sal, a veteran who could do well against this group of youngsters. She’s finished in the top three in all but one of her past seven A7 races.
In trap six is Run On Droopys. After a convincing win on 10 September, Droopys took a major step back in his next race, which was also his first A7 race, after turning in his trap. He came back a couple weeks later and finished sixth in his second A7 race.
Ballsmania Cup - Leg 6 (A7)
In trap one is Egans Fancy, a consistent fifth place finisher. He’s finished fifth in his past five races, and is probably not a good choice to win this race.
Meads Millions is a wild card, racing in her first race. Betting on her is like blind betting, but the odds will probably be long, and she could blow away the competition. Of course she could also finish in last place. She’ll race from trap two.
In trap three is Blue Bullseye. He’s usually in last at the first turn, but will often move up. He rarely manages to move all the way up to first place, but a good start and Bullseye could score you 50.
Ethans Wee Pup, isn’t so wee anymore. The veteran racer is on the downhill side of his career, but the competition isn’t strong in this race. He could use his experience to finish in the top three. He’ll go from trap four.
Another young racer will go from trap five, Dunham Class. She didn’t look good in her first A7 race after getting off to a poor start, and finishing in fifth.
Corleones Bazini was consistently finishing in the top two in A7 races, but couldn’t break the top three at the A6 level. A return to the A7 grade could put Bazini back into the top two. He’ll race from trap six.
