Preview: Ballsmania Cup week five, heats one and two
The fifth week of the Ballsmania Cup is set to go this Friday at Nottingham. Each week for six weeks, six charities are invited to Nottingham to sell tickets to raise money. They are also assigned a trap
number. The charities earn points based on how well the dogs from their trap do over six legs. The charity that earns the most points each week is invited back for the Ballsmania Cup final on 19 November.
Ballsmania Cup - Leg 1 (A5)
In the first trap is Salacres Tara. She is a notorious for her slow starts, but she is usually is able to finish well. She’s finished in the top three in five of her past seven races.
Pat The Hare will go from trap two. He’s not won since 14 August, but also hasn’t finished lower than third since then.
In the third trap is Causeway Sean, he’s not looked good since his last win on 5 July, with only two top three finishes in 10 races.
Salacres Janey is young, but he’s won her last two races, and has won two out of five career races. He’s a bit unpredictable, but if the odds are long, he’ll be a good one to take a chance on. He’ll go
from trap four.
In trap five is Dunham Wizard. He had won back to back A7 and A6 races, but has not been able to crack the top three in A5 races since moving up.
Rock It Doshie will go from trap six. She had a tough time in some A4 races in May, but she’s finished in the top three in her last four races. She should challenge for first in this A5 race.
Conservative bet: Rock It Doshie
Big payout potential: Salacres Janey
Ballsmania Cup - Leg 2 (A3)
Skyline Bella will race from trap one. She’s finished in the top three in her past six races, and has two wins in that stretch.
In trap two is Bardon Bob. He won his last A3 race by 9 lengths, and was then moved up to A2 where he has finished in fourth twice.
Malvern Hills raced much of this year in A2 races, but he rarely did well in them. Since his move to A3 he has a fifth place finish and a second place finish. He’ll race from trap three.
In trap four is Monty Court, who consistently does well in A4 races, and not so well in A3 races, but he’s young and there is room for improvement.
Kewell Tag will race from trap five. He’s an outside racer, and is used to starting from the fifth trap. He’s been racing in A3 races for a while with mixed results, and no wins. He’s due for a win.
Fabulous Gracie will go from the sixth trap. Her last win came on 27 August in an A3 race, and she has done fairly well in A3 races since.
Conservative bet: Fabulous Gracie
Big payout potential: Kewell Tag
