Preview: Betfair Yorkshire St Leger heats one and two

Doncaster will host four first round heats over 661m of the Betfair Yorkshire St Leger on Saturday. The semi-finals will be raced on 12 November, and the £8000 final is scheduled for 16 November.
Betfair Yorkshire St Leger - Heat 1
Blue Bee will race from trap one.  She’s won three of her past six races, and all of those races were run over distances greater than 600m. She’s a strong finisher who won’t tire in this marathon.
In trap two is Desert Judy. She’s won three of her past four races, two of them A3 races. The one loss was a third place finish in her first A2 race.
Farloe Can Do is in the third trap. He’s won three of his past five overall, and is another racer that seems to have difficulty in A2 races. He’s finished third in his past three at that grade.
Head Iton Jason won the £5000 Molson Coors 3 Steps To Victory Trophy Final on 21 September, then looked good in the early stages of the Williamhill.com St Leger before losing in the quarter-finals. He’s not the strongest racer, but he tends to do better
than expected in qualifying races. He’ll race from trap four.
In the fifth trap is Ten Dollars More. He’s won two of his last three, and tends to be better in the second half of his races than the first. He was in sixth at the first bend in his last race, but ended up finishing in first place.
He Went Whoosh has only finished outside the top three once in his past 16 races. He also has five wins in that stretch. He finished third in the Williamhill.com St Leger final. He’ll race from trap six.
Betfair Yorkshire St Leger - Heat 2
In the first trap of the second heat is Bodell Clare. Before a last place finish in the Williamhill.com St Leger quarter-finals, Clare had won six of her past nine races, and had finished second in the other three.
In trap two is Ballymac Rumble. He’s finished in the top three in his past eight races. He tends to improve his position in the second half of most races, but he’s used to races shorter than 600m.
Oneco Leader will race from trap three. He’s typically in the top three, but has finished outside it in two of his past five races.
In trap four is Pennys Genesis. After a couple of last place finishes in August, Pennys has been in the top three in her past five races.
Swift Lewis has only one win in his past nine races, and will have a tough time finishing in the top three in this race. He’ll race from trap five.
In the sixth trap is Carbarns Tom. He won his last race, but it was his first win since 19 July. Charlie Lister is his trainer, which gives him some points, but a win on Saturday is still unlikely.
Best bet: Despite a poor showing in the Williamhill.com St Leger, Bodell Clare is the best option for punters looking to pick a winner in this race.
