Preview: Henlow Bookmakers Silver Salver heats one and two
The Henlow Bookmakers Silver Salver begins Thursday night at Henlow with six £100 heats over 550m. The £150 semi-finals are scheduled for 4 November, and the £4000 final will be raced on 11 November.
Henlow Bookmakers Silver Salver Heat 1
White Marble will race from the first trap in the first heat. He’s won his past two races, but couldn’t do better than fifth in the four races before that. He’s only raced at Henlow a couple of times,
running most of his races at Romford.
Boolavogue will go from trap two. He finished in last place in his last race, but took second and first in the two races before that. He’s a versatile racer that should qualify for the semi-finals.
In trap three is Bonville Man, a young racer who has done well so far in his career. He has two wins in five races, and could be a threat to win this race.
Right beside Bonville in trap four is veteran racer, Dalcash Scolari. His finishes have ranged from last to first, but he’s coming off a huge 9¼ length win at Romford.
Westmead Melanie has finished in the top three in her past five races, all at Henlow, and she should be a shoe in to crack the top three in this race. She’s also finished in the top three in 18 of her
21 career races, with 10 wins in that stretch. She’ll race from trap five.
In trap six is Ocean Star, he likes the outside, and has finished in the top three in the past seven races he’s started from that trap.
Best bet: Westmead Melanie should be able to win this race if she can avoid a slow start, which is not always the case for her.
Henlow Bookmakers Silver Salver Heat 2
In trap one of the second heat is Bridge Emperor. He’s got one top three finish in his last eight races, and it was a third place finish. He’ll be an also-ran in this race.
Killishin Magee has won four of his past seven races. He made an impressive late charge in his last race to move up from fifth to second. He’ll race from trap two.
In trap three is Jaytee Ray. He’s won four of his past nine races, but couldn’t crack the top three in the other five.
Westmead Osprey will go from trap four. He’s won three of his past five races, and is a generally consistent winner. He’ll be looking to rebound from a fourth place finish in his last race.
Bourne Masons finished in second place in his last race after giving up his lead late, and he only has one win in his past 10 races. Masons drew trap five, but is a middle runner. He’ll probably struggle
in this one.
In trap six is Skysapr Star. Since winning three straight, Star has only one win in his past six races. He’ll be looking to get back in the winner’s circle in this Silver Salver heat.
