Preview of the 2011 Brasilia Open Beach Volleyball Tournament
The 2011 SWATCH FIVB World Tour is about to start next weekend on April 17. The Brasilia Open on the sands of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil will mark the opening of the regular season of beach volleyball this year. The tournament is supposed to feature both gender
competitions and it will be attended by all reigning champions of beach volleyball.
In the women’s section, a total of 65 duos will jump on the board to demonstrate the attack and defence skills in front of an international audience. Likewise, around 80 men’s teams will fight the battle of supremacy. The purse of US$380,000 is alluring
feature of the 2011 SWATCH FIVB Opener.
Officially, the teams from Argentina, Sweden, Australia, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Estonia, Canada, China, Chile, Norway, Czech Republic, Columbia, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Venezuela, Greece, Italy, Japan,
Kazakhstan, Latvia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey, United States and Uruguay will be entering the double-gender event of Brasilia Open.
The women’s side will be highlighted by the 2010 gold medallist teams. The top sensation on the sand would be home duo of top-seeded Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca. Besides them, U.S. top Beach Volleyball stars Jennifer Kessy and April Ross
will be the essential part of the competition. China will be presented by strong pairing of Chen Xu and Xi Zhang. Joining the gold-medallist wing would be the tandem of Brazilian Maria Antonelli and Talita Antunes.
These four teams will be under spotlight as they staged stellar performance during the 2010 SWATCH FIVB World Tour. Moreover, other renowned players such as Kerri Walsh, Misty May-Treanor, Tyra Turner, Sara Goller, Lara Ludwig and Salgado Sisters will also
take part in the action. All in all, it would be a real treat to see all these wonderful athletes vying for the top position.
On the other hand, the men’s side will have tough competition. The top-seeded American duo of Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers led the parade of nations in the last season. They performed amazingly well and earned most number of gold medals last year. They
set a new record of winning 9 SWATCH FIVB Titles in 2010. They are enjoying a top form and have the firm determination to keep the hold of the top position.
Likewise, the 2009 FIVB World Champions from Germany Julius Bring and Jonas Reckermann are tipped to create a major sensation. The duo has undergone extensive training for the 2011 Beach Volleyball Season. The time has come that they should display an incredible
show of beach volleyball.
Another top duo of Brazilian Alison and Emanuel is expected to profit the advantage of playing at home. They have done well in the previous SWATCH World Tour competitions. The 2011 Brasilia Open will give them another chance to showcase their skills.
The pairing of Adrian Gavira Collado and Pablo Herrera of Spain are also considered one of the top teams of the tournament. Furthermore, China’s Penggen Wui and Linyin Xu, Poland’s Grzegorz Fijalek and Mariusz Prdel, Brazilian Benjamin Insfran Oscar and
Harley Marques and some other best beach volleyball duos will contest their abilities at the Brasilia Open.
There is not much time left in the opening of Brasilia Open. Next Sunday, the action will start and the best teams will rise on the scene.
