Previewing Ronnie O’Sullivan’s chances for the 2011 World Snooker Championship
Ronnie O’Sullivan, who is one of the most naturally gifted players ever to pick up a cue, is pretty doubtful at this point of time for the upcoming World Snooker Championship.
Three-time world champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan, so far has been shocking by the standards of any top 16 player, as he has failed to clinch even a single ranking tournament since the World Open in September 2010.
Ronnie O’Sullivan has also fallen to the number tenth spot in the world rankings for not showing up in various tournaments. The Rocket hardly showed any interest in the PTC event and also has suffered first round defeats at the UK Championship, Masters Championship,
Welsh Open and China Open this season.
The main reason behind Ronnie O’Sullivan’s performance is his family issues which include his father, who recently has been released from the prison, and moreover splitting from his life partner.
It is also understandable that Ronnie O’Sullivan would have been under a lot of pressure, as people expect a good game from a player of his calibre. However despite of all these issues his fans still hope he will perform, as Ronnie O’Sullivan is a player
who has the capability of producing a championship winning game at any stage and it is also being said that he is practising a lot for this year’s world championship.
However, it is still hard to say if Ronnie O’Sullivan will be able to perform like the old times but whatever happens, he will always remain among the tournament favourites as everyone knows he is a pure genius around the table.
Ronnie O’Sullivan also gave a retirement hint, after he lost to Ryan Day by a frame score of 5-2 in the first round of China Open tournament.
“I've said I would retire before but haven't, so I don't want to look silly, but I can't continue to keep playing that way,” said Ronnie O’Sullivan.
Ronnie O’Sullivan will be one-on-one against the Welsh Spaceman, Dominic Dale, in the first round of the world championship. In normal circumstances, Ronnie O’Sullivan would have been a heavy favourite for the match but currently his chances are a bit shaky
as he is struggling.
The World number 32, Dominic Dale, who outplayed Michael Holt by a frame score of 10-6 in the final qualifying round, has already said he is pretty confident to see off Ronnie O’Sullivan in his first round match. He said it is going to be tough but he is
facing the Brit at the right time, as he has not done much in the last six months.
Let us see if Ronnie O’Sullivan brings his devastating form back because he is a player who enjoys playing at big events due to which he also pulls a huge crowd.
