The IOC World Conference is underway in Monaco, it started off on Thursday, April 7 and it is supposed to complete its run on April 10. The second day of the IOC is in progress. Several officials from the Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) and
participants of the first FIVB Volleyball Medicine Congress, which was held in Bled Slovenia in January, have gathered in Monte Carlo, Monaco to attend the World Conference.
The attendees of the Medical Congress have been especially invited to speak about the prevention of injuries and other related health issues in sport. Seven of the Medical Congress participant showed up at the IOC on first day, which included American Elizabeth

It is expected that a total of 94 keynote speakers will share their knowledge and experience up till the completion of this event.
The Chairman of the IOC Medical Commission, Professor Arne Ljungqvist welcomed the prestigious guests from different parts of the world. He appreciated the efforts of scientists and practitioners about their efforts to protect athletes’ health.
Furthermore, he stated his thoughts in the following manner, “The health of the athletes clearly is one of the IOC's top priorities. It is encouraging to see so many experts from all around the world coming together to share their latest insights in the
field of injury and illness prevention in sport. During the last 10 years, we have witnessed a tremendous increase in this important field of research – with specialised groups being formed in several countries.”
He further added, “Last year, the very best of these research centres were recognised by the IOC for their excellent and invaluable work. We have asked them to work together and gather more knowledge on sports injuries and prevention methods which should
benefit all of us in our work.”
The President of FIVB Medical Commission, Dr Roald Bahr also delivered the keynote lecture about the injuries protection in sport. He praised the wonderful arrangement of IOC and regarded World Conference as a milestone in international sports medicine.
He was delighted to see the good turnout of participants. Around 1,000 people from 81 different countries of the world are attending the IOC World Conference.
Behind all this, the Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) is also playing an instrumental role. The International Volleyball Federation is always concerned about the health of athletes.
The IOC World Conference is a great effort and it will surely bring positive results. The conference has still two more days to go and will be rounded off on Sunday.
