Preziosi blasts Malesani for Genoa’s lacklustre first half performance against Atlanta: Serie A news
Genoa President, Enrico Preziosi, has blasted club manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-c4309 Malesani, for a dismal first half performance in his team’s 2-2 draw against newcomers, Atlanta, in the opening fixture of the 2011/12 Serie A.
Malesani was appointed as the head coach of the Marassi club in the summer transfer window and after backing him financially in the transfer market, Preziosi expected a much better performance from his side. The Patron is gutted with his team’s performance in the first half and revealed that he has told the manager that he does not expect to see a similar performance again in the future.
The 63-year-old is not impressed with how the manager used one of the team’s most skilful players, Juraj Kucka, during the game. Preziosi believes that his team should pick themselves up after this result if they want to have a decent campaign. The owner believes that the performance in this game will take them nowhere even against a smaller teams.

I realise a player is like an engine that needs time to get into gear, but this was awful. Genoa have the squad to put in a great campaign, but if we just consider the first half then we belong in a school yard. At least we improved after the break.”

The chief has assured the manager that he will not be sacked immediately and will be given time to prove his worth at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
