so right now i have a trail pair of contact lenses, and my eye-doctar says for a 6 month supply of the contacts, it'll cost about $250.

Has anyone purchased their contact lenses from anywhere other than their optical office? Where did you buy it & what was the price?

  1. The price of contacts really depends on your prescription needs.  Generally speaking, contacts that don't need to correct for astigmatism are cheaper than those that do.  If you have a really complicated Rx that needs special order contacts, then of course the cost will be higher.  Daily disposable contacts (the ones that you throw out after each use) are more expensive than 2 week or 1 month disposable contacts.  You should find out what your contact lens Rx is (since it's possible that it may be different from your glasses Rx) as well as the brand that the O.D. fitted you with so that you can shop around.

As long as you have a valid copy of your prescription (they usually expire within 1 year of exam date), there are many choices to choose from when you want to buy contacts.  You can buy from online retailers like 1800 contacts, you can buy from large, chain retailers like target or costco, or you can even buy from other optometry offices.
