can anyone name even One (1) oil company that thinks that "maybe" the price of gas would go down (even a little) if they could..

There is precedent of Bush family and steep rise of oil.  It will never be lower again. You need to decide if oil will decide the way you live or you decide how to live.  Either move closer to where you work, or ride  bike.

Nope.  They can't and they won't.  Budda vetoed drilling back when gas was $29.00 a barrel.  Thanks Bill.

But they have all kinds of places to drill they aren't taking advantage of because they want government subsidies to offset their costs.  My they must be poor!

With today's technology it is relatively for Big Oil to improve its regressive oil techniques and be a heck of a lot cleaner.  They do this and more drilling opportunities will be granted.

It might also be noted that when Daddy Bush attacked Iraq in '91 the price of oil doubled.  Now with Baby Bush we have a long, drawn out war of occupation and acquisition in Iraq and the price of oil has sky rocketed.

Of course some of the blame for increased gas price is the sharp rise in demand.

You must know little about economics, They want the price of gas to be unattainable by the middle class and only the rich can afford gas.  The oil companies understand economics and if they sell 1 gal of oil for $1000 then they will make even more money.  It's all about "Windfall Profits" for the oil companies, not about profit maximization.
