  2. Hello,

You can buy the orange card and ask for the "Les anciens tarifs". It means you want the senior citizen discount.

Here are the price listings for weekly and monthly in Euro for senior citizens.

I suggest you get 1-2 zones, as it covers the entire paris metropolitian area.

    Zones _____Weekly____Monthly

    1-2 _______15,70______51,50

    1-3  _______20,80 _____68,10

    1-4________25,70______84,40

    1-5________30,90_____101,30

    1-6________34,80_____114,10

    1-7 _______38,80 _____127,10

    1-8_______42,70______139,90

To buy "Carte Orange" (the orange card) you need a passport size photo. Go to photo booth at many train stations and take "passport" photos. Bring to ticket counter and ask for the the Carte Orange.

Non Sr. Citizen prices are as follows:

    Zones__Weekly____Monthly

    1-2____16,00______52,50

    1-3  ___21,20 ______69,50

    1-4  ___26,30 ______86,10

    1-5____31,50_____103,30

    1-6____35,50 _____116,40

    1-7 ____39,50_____129,60

    1-8____43,50_____142,70

You can purchase the orange card at any train station,  just come with the aforementioned photos and your ID to prove your age if you want the Sr. Citizen discount.

    Carte Orange quick facts:

-You can purchase a Carte Orange from an RAPT agent at any Metro or RER station in Paris.

-Despite what you might hear about the pass being available only to Parisiens, anyone can buy a Carte Orange.

-The weekly pass (called a coupon hebdomadaire) is valid Monday to Sunday only. Be sure you can communicate the dates that you want, or that you'd like a Carte Orange for the next week starting Monday. Otherwise you may be sold a pass that is only valid for the rest of the week.

-The monthly pass (called a coupon mensuel) is valid for the calender month.

-You will need to specify the zones you wish to travel in. Zones one and two are central Paris, and quite likely the only two you'll be interested in for a pass. If you need to go outside those zones only once (to Versailles, for example) a separate ticket will be cheaper than extending your pass to those zones. (See the link to the zone map (pdf) below.

-You will need a small, passport style photo to attach to the pass (about 1 1/8" in height).

    - You can buy one at the metro station.  The Carte Orange passes are valid for unlimited rides on the RATP system.

    I hope this helps you.

Have a good trip and kind regards, Wendy

  3. price for a ticket : 1.40 €

    Price for a weekly pass carte orange 1-2 zones : 16 €

    Price for a monthly pass carte orange 1-2 zones : 52.50 €

    Daily pass zone 1-3 : 8,50 € 1 day, 13,95 € 2 days, 18,60€ 3 days, 27,20 € 5 days

Zone 1-2 covers all of Paris.

So it all depends how many trips you think you are going to make.

You need a carte Amethyste to travel half price (or even free) for pensioners. Those are for people over 65 who have lived in Paris for 3 years in the last five years.
