Price of small cars?

Has anyone else noticed that the price of small fuel effecient cars is starting to skyrocket?I mean The price of the Yaris has went up by at least 2000-4000 dollars where I live.Could this not be considered price gouging-the dealers are taking obvious advantage of rising fuel costs.I am sickened by this and wondered if anyone else was?Also,if you go to toyotas website they list the base model price considerably cheaper than my local dealer,can i print out the page with their price and demand it from my local dealer?Thanks in advance.

It's not price gouging, it's what the current market value is today.  It's supply and demand.  It's the same reason Pu and SUV's prices have dropped about $7,000 a vehicle in 3 months. Have you seen how the price of metal has gone up?

I just bought a USED 2008 Prius for $3,000 more than MSRP and sold it to a Toyota Dealer.  The Prius for example production has DECREASED by more than 37% over last year year because they can not make the batteries quick enough(Automotive News) So when when you a much higher demand and much lower supply it will cause the price to go up, just like gas.  The government has investigated the oil compainies over 100 times the last 3 years and found no gouging. Understand?

chevy dealers are not marking theirs up.i know a guy that worls a chevy dealer and says most of their cobalt sales come from the honda dealer next door b/c cjevy is offering 2k off the price of a cobalt and honda is marking them up 2k-4k

Of course they will begin to charge more since demand is up. It's The "American Way". You can demand all you want. They don't have to sell to you because there is always some other moron lined up to take it in the shorts by trading their car or truck off for 1/2 of what it used to be worth to be able to pay more than they should to get another 5 or 10 MPG.
